I just got back.... GO ITALIA!!!

I just got back from France and Italy.. And funny, they are both in the World Cup final! I was so glad to be in those 2 countries at this time. We watched Italy beat the Ukraine while in Italy. After the game for 4 hours people drove around the streets with Italian flags from their windows, beeping their horns! Parent dragged their children out at midnight to drive around while their kids held the Italian flag out the window. Something the children I'm sure will always remember! People in the streets yelling at waving to those in the cars, waving flags of their own! It was amazing to see! I felt so proud of my heritage at that point! I could never imagine that the United States would ever be that united to have something like a soccer game bring them out into the streets all over the country and celebrate something wonderful like that! Everyone was happy and excited! Then Italy beat Germany and I could only see the images on TV of Italy celebrating. I was so sad that I had to leave then. I wish I could be there this weekend for the final game! Even while in France, when France won, we heard fireworks going off after the game. We weren't out so I don't know if in the city center people were doing the same as we saw in Italy. I wish we had something to unite our country like that. We get excited about nothing anymore. Only if our teams make it to a play off. Nothing that would really unite a whole country, only 1 or 2 cities. I wish we had that passion in everyday life! I am hoping Italia wins!!!!
